Debora Marcoccio: South Attleboro’s Douchebag

The city of South Attleboro, MA threatened Eileen Wilbur, a blind 74-year-old woman with a $48 lien on her property if she didn’t pay a 1 cent balance. They spent 42 cents on the stamp for the letter they mailed her informing her of their threat.
“They wasted taxpayer money on the letter,” Wilbur said, noting the 42-cent charge for a stamp.
City Collector Debora Marcoccio (pictured) said the bill was sent out along with more than 2,000 others as the city tries to recoup outstanding balances before resorting to putting liens on property.
Now, we know what you’re thinking. After finding out about this one cent bill, Deborah Marcoccio, as a decent human being, realized the stupidity of wasting the time and money of Eileen Wilbur and the City of South Attleboro on a one cent bill and waived the whole thing. Unfortunately, you don’t know what a douchebag Marcoccio is.
“My question is, how come it wasn’t paid when the bills went out?” she said.
In the meantime, the city is holding firm on the amount due.
Marcoccio, who called the whole situation “ridiculous,” said the city will not waive the balance.
“If there’s a bill, it must be paid,” she said.
There aren’t enough words….
Suffice to say Ms Marcoccio will get what she deserves someday, I’m sure.
This is sad, made worse by Debora Marcoccio insistence that it is fair. No wonder people have no respect for civil servants. What about all the money Marcoccio wasted by not having a break even algorithm put into her data base, and trying to collect on a debt less than the cost of processing. She is not qualified for her office, or much else in life, apparently, as she is wholly bereft of common sense.
Has this Marcoccio woman lost her mind? My question is, how come the city decided to hire an idiot?
I just hope someone makes certain the city writes Ms. Wilbur a check once it receives all the pennies from people who read this story. I read it thinking it would be a cute story that had an ending where the city apologized and dropped the matter, needless to say I was shocked by Maroccio’s attitude. I hope the people of Attleboro realize how unflattering this is for their town and will put pressure on her to apologize. She acts as if this taxpayer intentionally left off one penny and even if she did is it really worth spending over 4000% of the debt in order to collect it. This is everything that is wrong with our government.
As sad as this is, it’s compounded by the fact that there are actually people in the world who would side with Miss Douchebag, and say “she should pay what she owes” and “city’s got a right to collect from deadbeats” and so on.
You wait, it will happen. I remember a story months ago about a woman who returned a book her mother had borrowed from the library before she died, and was told there was a 50 cent fine due on it, and the librarian, when told it was being returned for the woman’s dead mother, simply replied “that will be 50 cents”.
People actually sided with the library, saying “what’s she crying about, just pay the fine” and other nonsense.
That’s how Obama gets elected. Because there are people like that in this country.
Sad.

Perhaps the Salem Witch Trials weren’t as effective as history has taught… one of them must’ve slipped through the cracks way back then, and got away… and now we have one of their descendants, working in South Attleboro MA…
