Networks To Obama: Again? Do We Have To?
July 20, 2009 · Print This Article
In an attempt to bolster slipping support for his plan to socialize America’s health care, Barack Obama announced a prime time new conference for 9pm Wednesday. One might expect the Big Three networks to jump to attention when the White House called, but something strange happened…
…Broadcasters are struggling with falling approval ratings of their own — Nielsen’s audience measurements show viewership in a summertime slump.
The conference would mark the president’s fourth primetime press event since he took office six months ago. Such interruptions tend to wreak havoc with network schedules and can cost millions in lost advertising.
CBS, which airs only repeats that evening, agreed early Monday to cover the conference.
But for NBC, Fox and ABC, the decision was tougher. During a summer that’s otherwise strewn with repeats, Wednesday includes all their top-rated reality programs.
Fox declined to air the press conference outright. NBC and ABC fell into line late Monday after the White House shifted the event’s time from the previously announced 9 p.m. to the lesser-watched hour of 8 p.m.
That’s right, the mainstream media is finally joining a nation growing tired of having to make larger and larger sacrifices for Obama’s Messianic agenda. All too happy to foist tax-and-spend liberalism on the nation in a tall, dark, handsome and oh-so-well-spoken form, the networks are now balking at having to give up lucrative programming time. After asking, “Wait, didn’t ABC give you like…a day on this health care crap three weeks ago?” CBS, NBC and ABC were dragged, kicking and screaming, to 8pm Wednesday, where the Obama Administration shook them down for an hour’s worth of revenue. Fortunately for this website, the Obama Administration is completely dedicated to reinforcing our last featured article.
