House Member Assaults Airport Worker

Rep. Bob FilnerHouse of Representatives member Bob Filner (D - CA) faces charges of assault and battery after a struggle with an airport worker and law enforcement officials on Sunday evening.

Sources indicate that Filner entered a restricted area of Dulles International Airport and assaulted an airport worker after his luggage had not immediately arrived on a baggage carousel. 

According to the police report:

“The individual allegedly attempted to enter an area authorized for airline employees only, pushed aside the employees outstretched arm and refused to leave the area when asked by an airline employee.”

“Filner refused to step back and when the worker told him to leave the office, he said, ‘You can’t stop me.’ She replied: ‘No, but the police can.’”
