Scientology On Trial

Belgian Prosecutor Jean-Claude Van Espen is recommending that the “Church” of Scientology be branded a “criminal organization” and should stand trial for fraud and extortion, among other criminal charges. Frankly, this is the best news I’ve heard all day – It’s about time that someone (or many someones) stand up to this empire of lunacy.

According to this Seattle PI article, the “Church” of Scientology responds to the charges at hand:

“For the last 10 years, the prosecutor has been using the media, trying to damage the reputation of the Church of Scientology and not being able to put a case in court.” Scientology said. “As a consequence, this created a climate of intolerance and discrimination” in Belgium.

I don’t see how this could be any more damaging than the affidavit of Ronald DeWolf a/k/a L. Ron Hubbard Jr., which contains these blatant statements agains the so-called church:

“He is a fraud and has always been a fraud.”

“My father has always held out Scientology and auditing to be based purely on science and not-on religious “belief or faith. We regularly promised and distributed publications with “scientific guarantees”. This was and has always been common practice. My father and I created a “religious front” only for tax purposes and legal protection ‘from fraud Claims’. We almost always told nearly everyone that Scientology was really science, not a religion, but that the religious front was created to deal–with the government.”

It’s time that the U.S. government follow suit and level charges against the E-Meter readers of the universe as well.
