Pants Making Headlines Again

August 29, 2007

Kinda makes one wonder if R.L. White, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson are going to don clown pants and politicize this one:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 08/29/07 Atlanta officials did not decide Tuesday whether they should become fashion police.

However, they did agree to continue to debate whether the city should regulate whether folks can walk around Atlanta with saggy pants and exposed undies. Council members expect to create a 10- to 12-member task force soon to further the debate and decide whether Atlanta should —- or can —- pass a law to control fashion.

Either way, the issue drew heated discussion from a crowd of about 55 who packed the first City Council committee debate on the subject Tuesday afternoon. Here’s what some folks had to say:

Dave Walker, East Atlanta: We got old and forgot there are fads. They come and they go and no legislation is going to get rid of natural trends. We have no right to legislate what folks wear.

James Allen, Atlanta: It bothers me as a black man. They dress down. They talk down. Some of the things they do are downright lowdown. It sickens me. We need to teach them in a way they will become prospects, not suspects.

Yemaya Bourdain, senior at Clark Atlanta University: This is absolutely asinine. I can’t believe this is the best you guys can come up with. As if we don’t have enough already targeting our black youth. Who can this help?

Clyde Wilson, Atlanta: It is a problem. Not just the men wear their clothes down, the women do. If you dress like a prostitute, they are going to treat you like one.

Naomi Ward, Atlanta: I am supportive of the ordinance. It is not just unsightly. It is what it represents. It is restrictive and constrictive. It restricts the physical movement. And it constricts the mind.

Bathroom Buddy

August 29, 2007

Alternate title: Not that there’s EVERYTHING wrong with it

Undoubtedly, everyone is well familiar with the nefarious bathroom antics of Sen. Larry Craig: During an undercover police investigation, a United States Senator was caught soliciting sexual favors in a mens room.  Following these allegations, Sen. Craig admits guilt to these charges, and has resigned from all of his committee assignments.

John McCain and fellow Republicans are calling for Craig’s full resignation. These should also be the sentiments of the populus — get this bathroom trolling douchebag out of office. Someone who pleads guilty of a crime, as Sen. Craig has, should not continue to hold public office.

My expectation (and I may be proven wrong here) is that internal Republican pressures will continue to mount, and support for Sen. Craig will continue to wane. Senator Craig will resign, utter another apology, and then dissolve into oblivion like a urinal cake.

All of this said, let’s look at the other side of the political fence and get back to the “culture of corruption” for a moment. Where exactly is the call to arms that Nancy Pelosi speaks of? I fail to see any effort to restore any credibility or accountability here. As a matter of fact, I can still call Congressman William Jefferson and ask if I can borrow $90,000.  Why is Barney Frank still in office despite running a male prostitution ring from his own apartment?

Lastly, why does the main stream media want to keep this whole issue on the front pages for this entire week? Fair reporting, my ass… (and on the subject of my ass, we now know another elected official that would probably like to see it)

Blowhard Bitch Supports Gonzales Resignation

August 27, 2007

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi releases this statement:

“Pelosi: ‘Resignation of Attorney General Gonzales Is Long Overdue’”

Ms. Pelosi, *YOUR* resignation is long overdue. When can we expect it?

“The resignation of Attorney General Gonzales is long overdue. The rampant politicization of federal law enforcement that occured under his tenure seriously eroded public confidence in our justice system.”

What-what-what? How the hell can you say this with a straight face? By the way, I think you stole the “long overdue” phrase from John Edwards.

“The President must now restore credibility to the office of the Attorney General. Given the serious loss of public trust and the disarray at the Department of Justice, the American people must have absolute confidence in the integrity of the next Attorney General as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer and as  defender of political influence. The President’s nominee must have the character and stature to command that confidence.”

The truth hurts, doesn’t it, Nancy. (Shut up you blow hard.) This quote comes from the same woman that cannot force a single corrupt Democrat criminal from office? How is William Jefferson doing today?

Oh yeah, and I cannot believe for one second that you have any authority to speak on public trust or confidence… have you seen YOUR approval ratings for YOUR Congress? It really speaks volumes about public trust and confidence.

Oh yeah, remember this guy?

Janet Reno

“The Nominee must also pledge to cooperate with ongoing congressional oversight into the conduct of the White House in the politication of federal law enforcement.”

Cooperate with congress and media to divert attention away from Congress’ deplorable approval rationgs.

“Hearings on the niminee will provide Congress with another opportunity to examine the new, flawed FISA law and will aid in our efforts to improve it.”

Go home.

Ladies Man

August 24, 2007

Hey ladies, what’s your sign? My name is Daniel Gertz, and I’m a 37 year old from Los Angeles. Did I mention that you look *great*?  Here, would you mind looking the other way while I get you a drink? Ahh, there you go… I *know* we’re gonna get along just fine…

This is how one could envision Mr. Gertz’s next 20,000 pickup lines, as he was found in possession of 3 gallons of the ‘date-rape drug’ GHB — enough for approximately 20,000 doses.  California Highway Patrol authorities said Gertz was transporting the drug to a party in San Franciso when he was stopped Wednesday for speeding.

Douchebag. Oh yeah, full story here.

NAACP: Give Vick A Second Chance

August 22, 2007

At an Atlanta press conference, NAACP leader R.L. White advised that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick be allowed to return to the NFL following his sentencing and suspension over illegal dog fighting charges. As told in this MSNBC article:

“As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football,” said R.L. White, president of the NAACP’s Atlanta chapter. “We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country.”

It was just a matter of time before the NAACP got involved and had to play the race card. After all, this whole issue has everything to do with skin color, and absolutely nothing to do with Vick’s violent and illegal behavior, right? (wrong.)

Unfortunately, this is exactly the position that the NAACP seems to be taking in this particular matter. Double standard? Absolutely. This is why the organization maintains zero credibility in modern society.

After all, why was radio “shock jock” Don Imus not offered a second chance? In fact, quite the opposite occurred. In this April 13, 2007 press release, the NAACP “supports” and “commends CBS and MSNBC for removing Don Imus from their networks.” Where’s the love here? [reader note: Damn you NAACP for making me defend douchebag Don Imus.]

Al Sharpton later recapitulates, offering that he would not mind if Imus returned to radio. Well, why not - everyone has a right to work. This particular gem falls under the “pursuit of happiness” and exists in the United States Consitution. Gee, thanks for your generosity, Al.

Nowadays, it seems that the NAACP has actually ceased to recognize and rally against true cases of racism. Rather, the organization habitually defends and supports criminals based solely upon skin color. [read: O.J. Simpson, Mel Reynolds, etc.] Tell me this isn’t racism.

It seems highly unlikely that the NAACP will ever change their modus operandi. Therefore, I humbly request that the NAACP change the meaning behind it’s universally recognizable acronym. How about: Never Admonishes Any Colored Perpetrators?  At least we’d know what to expect.

A Simple ‘I Quit’ Would Have Been Sufficient

August 22, 2007

Ever want to quit your job, but don’t know exactly how to express your intent to leave? How about this: First, load yourself up with a healthy dose of PCP. Next, obtain a loaded service revolver from your employer. Now, strip naked and begin firing at your co-workers. Oh yeah, shout “Al Qaida” a lot too.

Wait. Somebody already thought of that. Meet DC Special Police officer Donald Cardwell, who performed that brilliant maneuver in a Washington, D.C. impound lot. Cardwell now faces myriad drug and assault charges, and is scheduled to appear in court next week.

The New York Times

August 21, 2007

As reported in this American Thinker article by Randall Hoven:

The New York Times wants you to believe that Americans are getting poorer, that our average incomes are below what they were in 2000. In order to convey this misleading conclusion, the paper plays a game well-illustrated by my own family’s situation.

Last year my daughter graduated from college, got a job and moved into her own apartment. Those actions contributed to the decline of the median household income in this country.  You see, even though the combined income of my family increased by my daughter’s income (not shabby), we were now two households –  divide the total income by two and it’s less than it used to be.The Times breathlessly reports on this same phenomenon on a national scale today.  And I do not use the adverb “breathlessly” idly.  The story quotes Robert S. McIntyre, the director of Citizens for Tax Justice, as saying the data “takes your breath away.”  The story concludes with his quote that “trickle down doesn’t work.”

The story is based on government data on median household income.  It declined from $55,714 in 2000 to $55,238 in 2005, adjusted for inflation, according to the story.  (The online U.S. Statistical Abstract has not been updated for 2005, apparently.)  That’s a decline of less than one percent (0.85% to be exact).

However, other government data show that GDP per capita increased from $34,759 in 2000 to $37,532 in 2005, in inflation-adjusted dollars.  That’s an increase of almost eight percent (7.98% to be exact).

Well, were there fewer people per household, as in my family?  More government data say yes.  The average number of people per household was 2.62 in 2000 and 2.57 in 2005.  A 2% decline.  Do the math: if you spread the same people with the same income over more households, you get lower “household” income.  In fact, we would have expected a 2% decline in household income.  But there was less than 1% decline.

In simple terms, there was no decrease in income at all.  In fact, there was a healthy increase.  The NYT simply spins a story about average household size into a class warfare story.

If “trickle down” means my kids get good-paying jobs and move out, then bring it on! In fact, because Americans are richer, we can afford to support more household units. Thereby creating an opprtunity for the Times to mislead those readers who still think it is a credible news source. The New York Times is guilty of deception while sticking to the facts. That’s an art form it has worked long and hard to master.

“Chamber Of Horrors” Discovered In Sex Offender’s Basement

August 21, 2007

A New York City inspector uncovered a “chamber of horrors” in the basement of a Bronx building owned by a convicted sex offender. The 62-year-old Barry Greene pleaded guilty to sodomy and sexual abuse charges in 2001. According to this report:

The basement was full of skulls, bones and jars with organs swimming in them. The Department of Housing Preservation & Development inspector was checking on a hot-water complaints when he came across the frightful collection.

The NY1 news team covers investigators as they probe the contents of the basement horror lab.  See the video here.

Sub-Par Mama’s Boy

August 20, 2007

According to Dallas authorities, 50-year-old Douglas Cook was found living with the rotting corpse of his mother approximately one week after he had allegedly beaten her to death.  As reported in this article:

Police discovered the fatally beaten body of Nora Lee Cook, 84, in her bedroom, Saturday after neighbors reported a foul odor coming from Cook’s home …

Douglas Cook, who had been arrested two years earlier for allegedly assaulting his mother, was charged with her murder.

It is probably just a matter of time before the mainstream media portrays this working class hero as a victim of a troubled youth.

Now for the face only a mother could love:

House Member Assaults Airport Worker

August 20, 2007

Rep. Bob FilnerHouse of Representatives member Bob Filner (D - CA) faces charges of assault and battery after a struggle with an airport worker and law enforcement officials on Sunday evening.

Sources indicate that Filner entered a restricted area of Dulles International Airport and assaulted an airport worker after his luggage had not immediately arrived on a baggage carousel.

According to the police report:

“The individual allegedly attempted to enter an area authorized for airline employees only, pushed aside the employees outstretched arm and refused to leave the area when asked by an airline employee.”

“Filner refused to step back and when the worker told him to leave the office, he said, ‘You can’t stop me.’ She replied: ‘No, but the police can.’”
