The Solution To Climate Change: Tax Increase
September 27, 2007
Representative John Dingell (D-MI) proves that Democrats, largely (if not completely) out of touch with reality have a simple solution for everything: Tax it!
Dingell’s latest plan, which even he has qualified as “painful,” includes some key points that are particularly hard to stomach. The proposal, as outlined in this Washington Post article, “floats” the following points for discussion:
- A 50 cent per gallon tax on gasoline and jet fuel
- A $50 per ton tax on carbon, released from coal, petroleum, or natural gas
- Elimination of interest tax deductions on home mortgages for homes for 3,000 sq. ft.
“Float,” I believe, is the operative word here. I can think of something else that floats - and then it gets flushed. In other words, this proposal is complete crap and deserves to be flushed. Gas prices too high? Raise taxes! Energy costs too high? Raise taxes! Pessimistic outlook for the housing market? Raise taxes!
Not surprisingly, Dingell’s indecent proposal makes no mention of how the additional tax revenue would be spent by our responsible Congress. Perhaps if this additional revenue funded the exploration and implentation of term limits, the nation would welcome the increase. After all, Dingell is dubbed “The Dean of the House” for having served the longest tenure of anyone in the 435-member body.
Representative Dingell may turn out to be the Jonathan Swift of our times, making this indecent proposal more of a modest proposal. In this case, he’s not clearing Irish babies for British consumption, challenging popular opinion on Irish impoverishment. He’s challenging lawmakers to “an intelligent discussion” on climate change. Herein lies the problem:
Whom do we reasonably expect to hold an intelligent discussion on such a subject? Certainly not Nancy Pelosi, who argued for a larger, less fuel efficient airplane for personal travel. Certainly not Al Gore, who “embraces a carbon neutral lifestyle” within the confines of his “not so green” 10,000-square-foot Tennessee home, and aboard private jets.
The sad reality is that this issue will be debated by like-minded Democrats. No agreement upon the scientific merits of climate change and global warming will be reached - we’re screwed. Money will be siphoned from our wallets and carelessly thrown in the direction of another “problem” - we’re still screwed.
It’s time to recognize that scientific issues need to be addressed by non-biased scientists. It’s time to recognize that not every social or global problem can be resolved with money.
In the meantime, I’ll be waiting patiently for this whole thing to blow over… munching on a baby.

Congress Busts A Move, Keeps It Real
September 26, 2007
Yo, peep dis: rap musicians, recording industry executives, and select members of Congress gathered to examine the culture and language of hip-hop recordings. Word.
As told in this CBSNews Showbuzz article:
Lawmakers, music industry executives and rappers disagreed Tuesday over who was to blame for sexist and degrading language in hip-hop music but united in opposing government censorship as a solution.
“If by some stroke of the pen hip-hop was silenced, the issues would still be present in our communities,” rapper and record producer David Banner, whose real name is Levell Crump, said in prepared statements to a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing. “Drugs, violence and the criminal element were around long before hip-hop existed.”
At the hearing, music videos showing scantily clad women were played; music executives in dark suits testified on the uses of the “B,” H” and “N” words, and black civil rights leaders talked of corporate exploitation.
“We have allowed greedy corporate executives — especially those in the entertainment industry — to lead many of our young people to believe that it is OK to entertain themselves by destroying the culture of our people,” E. Faye Williams, chair of the National Congress of Black Women, said in prepared remarks.
“From Imus to Industry: The business of stereotypes and degrading images” was the title of the hearing, referring to former radio host Don Imus, who lost his job after making derogatory comments about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. The Imus incident has sparked debate within the music industry about black artists using offensive, misogynist and violent language.
Former rapper Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, told the panel he is now committed to producing clean lyrics. In the past, seeing his relatives and friends shot and killed, “I just made the music that I feel, not realizing I’m affecting kids for tomorrow.” But he said he found he didn’t want his own children to listen to his music. “So if I can do anything today to change this, I’m going to take a stand and do that.”
“This hearing is not anti-hip hop. I am a fan of hip hop,” said subcommittee chairman Bobby Rush, D-Ill., who gained national prominence in the 1960s as the founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers. But he said there was a need “to address the issue of violence, hate and degradation that has reduced too many of our youngsters to automatons.”
Record company executives defended the parental guidance labels and edited versions they said keep the more controversial material away from children and stressed that uniform standards or censorship won’t work.
In the ’50s people were deeply offended by Elvis Presley, and a decade later many were scandalized by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, said Edgar Bronfman Jr., chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group.
“We have a responsibility to speak authentically to our viewers,” said Philippe Dauman, president & CEO of Viacom Inc., which owns such cable networks as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET.
He said his company takes an active role in editing obscenities out of music videos and excising gang symbols or portrayals of violence, but “we also believe that it is not our role to censor the creative expression of artists.”
Alfred Liggins III, chief executive officer of Radio One, Inc., one of the largest media companies that primarily serves African-Americans, said the company reviews the contents of songs before broadcasting them and takes care to comply with Federal Communications Commission guidelines. But “Radio One is also not in charge of creating content, or in the business of censorship or determining what is in good or bad taste.”
“The language and the music we use, we understand it, most of us are not offended by it. It’s adult music. When you see the parental advisory on it that makes it a choice, so parents have a choice. The whole thing is crazy and upsets me,” Chicago rapper Twista told The ShowBuzz last week in reference to the hearing. “Rap is getting a bad rap and we’re taking the blame for everything.”
The hearing was reminiscent of, although tamer than, a similar event in 1985. At the earlier hearing, lawmakers where exposed to Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher” and Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Going to Take It,” and the late rocker Frank Zappa hurled insults at Tipper Gore, wife of then-Sen. Al Gore, and Susan Baker, wife of then Treasury Secretary James Baker, who were urging the recording industry to voluntarily police itself on song lyrics.
Hillary’s Nose Is Growing
September 26, 2007
Ronald Kessler exposes more lies told by the Democrat Diva Douchebag Candidatrix Hillary Clinton. The full NewsMax article may be found here. Now, here’s an excerpt:
As Hillary Clinton rises in the polls, her nose grows longer and longer.
To be sure, she has never had any shame about making stories up out of thin air. After 9/11, Clinton appeared on national TV and claimed that when the two airplanes hit the World Trade Center, her daughter Chelsea was going to jog at Battery Park near the towers, where she heard and saw the catastrophe unfold.
Clinton’s arrogance was so profound that she did not coordinate the story with Chelsea, who wrote an article for Talk in which she described what she had been doing that day. According to Chelsea, she was on the other side of town in a friend’s apartment on Park Avenue South. She watched the events unfold on TV.
Nor does Clinton’s hypocrisy have any limits. When asked about the recent MoveOn.org ad suggesting that Gen. David Petraeus has betrayed the country, Clinton on “Meet the Press” on Sept. 23 called for an end to such attacks. “I don’t condone anything like that, and I have voted against those who would impugn the patriotism and the service of the people who wear the uniform of our country,” she said.
Yet three days earlier, Clinton had voted against a Senate resolution to condemn the MoveOn.org ad. Her closest competitor, Sen. Barack Obama, voted earlier that day but conveniently missed the vote condemning the ad.

The Candidatrix Speaks
September 25, 2007
As told in this Politico article, the Hillary For President camp learned that GQ magazine intended to run a piece about infighting within the campaign. With that, Hillary Clinton - The Douchebag Report’s Darling Democrat Diva - threatened: lose the article, or lose access to Bill. The word on the street is that Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear as GQ’s “Man of the Year” in December.
Whoa, Hillary. You sounded like Christina Aguilera just there:
If you wanna be with me, baby
There’s a price you pay
I’m a genie in a bottle
You gotta rub me the right way
If you wanna be with me
I can make your wish come true
You gotta make a big impression
I gotta like what you do

Alleged Attack?
September 24, 2007
In the past, we’ve reported bias and overt political correctness in the mainstream media. For yet another example of this, one need look no further than this Fox News headline that precedes the story about a 13-year-old Norfolk, VA boy who was brutally beaten:
“Alleged Attack Against 13-Year-Old Virginia Boy Caught on Tape”
Watch this video and tell me what’s alleged about this beating:

Unlucky Duck
September 24, 2007
According to this Fox News article:
Scott D. Clark, a guest at the Embassy Suites Hotel in St. Paul, cornered the duck early Saturday morning, grabbed the bird and ripped its head from its body while a hotel security guard and others watched, police said.
Clark then turned to onlookers and said: “I’m hungry. I’m gonna eat it,” St. Paul police Sgt. John Wuorinen said.
“He was allegedly drunk,” Wuorinen said.
Clark, 26, of Denver, was detained by hotel security guards until police came to arrest him.
He remained jailed Sunday on suspicion of felony animal cruelty and was scheduled to appear in court Monday to be charged.
Drunk Animal Abuse Officer Charged With Animal Abuse
September 24, 2007
Covington, Kentucky authorities allege that local animal abuse officer Richard Beach arrived at work drunk - and abused a dog that he was dispatched to protect.
According to the filed police report, Beach arrived at a tenant-landlord dispute, in which he was to take possession of a dog in lieu of a pending court case. The report states:
”Beach was walking the dog from the house to the sidewalk when he yanked the leash, causing the dog to be lifted 3 or 4 feet off the ground. Police said Beach slammed the dog onto the street on its back and head, which officers said caused the dog to yelp.”
Following the incident, Beach was charged with DUI and with cruelty to animals.
