Angel Matos
What’s Fidel Castro doing nowadays? Well, he’s defending disgraced Olympic athlete Angel Matos, for one:
HAVANA (AP) - Fidel Castro on Monday defended the Cuban taekwondo athlete who kicked a referee in the face at the Beijing Olympics, saying Angel Matos was rightfully indignant over his disqualification from the bronze-medal match.
Taekwondo officials want Matos and his coach banned for life from the sport. But Castro expressed “our total solidarity” for both Matos and his coach Leudis Gonzalez.
Matos was winning 3-2 in the second round when he fell to the mat after being hit by his opponent, Kazakhstan’s Arman Chilmanov, and was disqualified for taking more than his one minute of injury time.
Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge and then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden, who needed stiches to repair his lip. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.
Taekwondo officials called Matos’ behavior an insult to the Olympic vision. Matos’ coach countered that the match was fixed and accused the Kazakhs of offering him money.
Castro said the alleged bribery attempt gave Matos good reason to expect the judges to treat him unfairly.
“They had tried to buy his own coach,” Castro wrote in his essay published in state media. “He could not contain himself.”
Cuba is accustomed to winning golds in boxing, but settled this year for four silver and four bronze medals. Overall, Cuba took home only two golds, down from nine in Athens four years ago.
“I saw when the judges blatantly stole fights from two Cuban boxers in the semifinals,” Castro wrote. “Our fighters … had hopes of winning, despite the judges, but it was useless. They were condemned beforehand.”
The ailing, 82-year-old ex-president also noted that defections have taken their toll, blaming “the repugnant mercenary actions” of promoters who lure Cuban boxers off the island with lucrative contracts.
And Castro hinted that big changes could be in order for Cuban sports, pledging a serious review of “every discipline, every human and material resource that we dedicate to sport.”
“Cuba has never bought an athlete or judge,” Castro wrote, adding that Cubans need to begin preparing now for London in 2012. “There will be European chauvinism, judge corruption, buying of brawn and brains … and a strong dose of racism,” he predicted.
Kinda makes one wonder what’s in those cigars ‘ol Fidel has been smoking…
CA State Senator: “Excuse me, but I think your arguments are bullshit.”Demi
August 13, 2008
This is a riot. State Senator Pat Wiggins (D-CA) decided she had heard enough on the impact of global warming among impoverished minority communities. Rev. Robert Jones began his testimony by suggesting that politicians needed to engage minority representatives to discuss how global warming is impacting their lives. Wiggins brazenly interrupted with the line, “excuse me, but I think your arguments are bullshit.”
Perfect.
Here is the video (the interruption occurs at 1:50):
Michelle Malkin has more on the subject, including the aftermath…
Enquirer: Edwards STILL Lying
August 13, 2008
In lieu of recent events, it should come as no surprise to learn that former Presidential hopeful Sen. John Edwards is STILL lying. It appears that even his long-awaited interview confirming the affair was riddled with lies. Perhaps this is the “99% truth” to which he was referring? The National Enquirer has uncovered new evidence to suggest that Edwards is incapable of telling the truth:
Edwards’ headline-making admission confirmed The ENQUIRER’s blockbuster world exclusive reports detailing his affair, in articles Edwards brazenly called “completely untrue” and “tabloid trash” while running for president and afterward.
And now The ENQUIRER has uncovered that Edwards’ political operatives are still paying his mistress Rielle Hunter - and she was whisked away on a private jet two days before he confessed their extramarital affair on national TV!
The ENQUIRER has also confirmed that Edwards secretly visited Rielle and their love child three separate times at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles this year - a fact that proves he is still lying to America and his wife.
ENQUIRER reporters caught Edwards, 55, making a late-night visit to 44-year-old Rielle and their daughter at the hotel on July 21 - which prompted us to release the first-ever photograph of him with his love child last week.
NOW, The ENQUIRER has uncovered more blockbuster information, including:
After Edwards confessed the affair to his wife, he restarted it, and was sexually involved with Rielle when she became pregnant.
Despite his denials, Edwards WAS aware that his former finance committee chairman, Fred Baron, was funneling money to Rielle.
Experts are now calling for a federal investigation into Edwards’ use of campaign funds.
In an interview with ABC’s Nightline correspondent Bob Woodruff on Aug. 8, the former North Carolina senator admitted for the first time that he engaged in what he called a “short” extramarital affair with campaign worker Rielle Hunter.
Edwards told ABC the affair was limited to 2006, before he confessed “the mistake” to wife Elizabeth, 59, who is battling a recurrence of breast cancer.
But Edwards denied he’s the father of Rielle’s daughter, who was born on Feb. 27, 2008. The ENQUIRER reported last December that Hunter had told close confidantes that he was the father.
In denying he fathered Rielle’s baby, Edwards told ABC that he would “be happy” to take a paternity test to prove he’s telling the truth. (He has refused numerous previous requests by The ENQUIRER to take a paternity test.)
Edwards claimed he ended the affair in 2006, but sources say he restarted the illicit romance after confessing to his wife.
Rielle soon became pregnant after the affair was rekindled, say sources.
The ongoing ENQUIRER investigation has also confirmed that he has been with Rielle and the baby three times this year in California.
Now that Edwards’ credibility is thoroughly shot, we must call for a paternity test. Let’s see if the mainstream media is hesitant to pick this one up…

John Edwards and the Truth Scandal
August 13, 2008
American Thinker columnist Bruce Walker writes a brilliant analysis of the hypocrisy of the Left. Here is an excerpt from the full article (definitely a worthy read):
The spectacle of yet another Leftist Democrat, John Edwards, looking the American people dead in the eye and lying to them is nothing new. The news spinners of the mainstream media have tried to portray the Edwards Affair as a sex scandal. It is not. It is a truth scandal. It is, in fact, part of a spiraling truth scandal that seems to have engulfed the Left.
While it is easy to compare Edwards’ infidelity to Clinton’s infidelity, unfaithfulness in marriage is not the problem. Adultery is as old as the Decalogue. God thought enough about the subject to include it in those commandments recognized by Jews and Christians alike. Beyond that, Edwards’s lawyer wife, like Clinton’s lawyer wife, seems to have taken this breach of contract in stride.Adultery may be an old vice, but the terrible new vice of the Left is an indifference to truth which seems to fill every crevice of the Leftist brain. When Al Gore gets up and says that global warning is accepted science, is he lying? Who knows? Gore has made such huge mistakes of fact over the last few decades that he might really believe that all scientists think that the planet is getting warmer. But Gore obviously does not care too much whether global warming is true or not. He never even pretends to listen to the other side. In fact, he acts as if there was no “other side” at all. Al Gore is grossly indifferent to truth. When Howard Dean made a series of whopping mistakes four years ago - the “Soviet Union,” in Dean’s mind, was still around; presidents could “order” state legislatures to adopt Right to Work — and it did not matter much whether this was true. John Kerry was just as indifferent to truth. As a Catholic, Kerry followed “Pope Pius XXIII,” a nonexistent pope, and Kerry was sent to Vietnam by Nixon, although LBJ, not Nixon, was president at the time, and Kerry was in Cambodia over a Christmas in which he really wasn’t in Cambodia. Dean and Kerry are not the sort of sleazy liars that Clinton and Edwards are, but Dean and Kerry are much more sophisticated liars: Dean and Kerry lie about reality.
The whole empire of the Left is pockmarked with gross indifference to what is true and what is false, to what is history and what is myth, to what is real and to what is illusion. When Barack Obama talks about fifty-seven states of the union, he does not really care how many states there are in our nation. Facts like that don’t matter. All that matters is what has been defined as the chic Leftism of today.
ONE Person Shows Up At Franken Event
August 9, 2008

Wildly Unfunny Al Franken
Is it possible that support is waning for tax-cheatin’, unfunny, windbag liberal Al Franken? If the turnout to his his round table on veterans issues is any indicator, he’s seriously tanking:
There’s an old saying in politics that elections are won or lost one vote at a time.
On Friday, DFL-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Al Franken demonstrated how true that saying can be, when a roundtable on veterans issues at Brigitte’s Cafe his campaign scheduled drew only one participant.
I wonder if that person also bought Nancy Pelosi’s book?
As Stuart Smalley would say, “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like me.”
Uh… no they don’t.
8 People Bought ‘I Am Rich’ Application
August 8, 2008

I Am Rich
Everyone was wondering if anyone were actually stupid enough to spend $1000 on the ‘I Am Rich’ iPhone application. Well, according to the developer of the application, 8 people purchased the application, a “glorified screensaver,” before Apple pulled it from their iPhone store:
Apple has spit out a pit in its iTunes App Store, a controversial $999.99 “glorified screensaver,” but not before eight people bought it, Newsfactor.com reported on Friday.
The company on Thursday removed the “I Am Rich” application created by developer Armin Heinrich, who said that eight people had purchased it before it was taken off iTunes, Newsfactor.com reported. The buyers include six people from the United States and one each from France and Germany.
The app displays a glowing red gem on a user’s iPhone screen for the sole purpose of proving to onlookers one is of the moneyed class. That’s all it does.
But on Wednesday, when the app was present in the iTunes store, a little pop-up message told us “I Am Rich” is not available for sale to U.S. residents. Given the sorry state of the U.S. dollar, that might make sense.
Olympian, Rapist
August 8, 2008

Alvin Henry
Here’s the dark side of being an ex-Olympian:
An Olympic sprinter was busted yesterday in a series of rapes and sex attacks in Brooklyn and Queens parks dating back to 2003 - including an assault on the girlfriend of an NYPD cop in Prospect Park, police said.
Alvin Henry, 30, was linked to the attacks after police traced calls he made to the cellphone of one his youngest victims, a 15-year-old girl, police sources said.
He was arrested yesterday near Prospect Park, and the sources said they believe he was about to strike again.
The sources said Henry - who is from Trinidad and ran for its national team in the 2000 Sydney, Australia, games - went back to the island after committing two attacks in 2003, but returned to New York this year to resume his rampage.
In some cases, he allegedly watched couples making out, threatened to post photos of them on the Internet - and then raped the women.
Police said his crime spree began on June 26, 2003, when he raped an 18-year-old at knifepoint in Baisley Park in Jamaica.
On Aug. 4 that year, he struck again, telling his victim that he had a gun and attempting to rape her in Roy Wilkins Park in Jamaica, cops said. She got away.
On April 27 this year, he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Prospect Park near Grand Army Plaza, authorities said.
On June 11, in Roy Wilkins Park, he allegedly attacked the 15-year-old whose cellphone he called. Four days later, he ambushed off-duty Police Officer James Randolphe and his girlfriend, 38, as they were sitting in a car in Prospect Park.
Randolphe jumped out to confront the thug and became separated from his girlfriend. The predator allegedly chased her down and raped her. The sources said Henry - who faces rape and other charges - spent his time shuttling between an aunt’s house in Queens and a friend’s house in Brooklyn, near the sites of the attacks.
As for swift justice: Today, Alvin Henry pled guilty, and has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.
World’s Greatest Douchebag
August 8, 2008

David Allen Everett
When you’re cruising for a little action, you must remember to dress to impress. So, when you’re a creepy old redneck looking to seduce a 14-year-old girl, what does one wear? To field this question, we’ll call upon creepy old redneck Daniel Allen Everett, of Pontiac, Michigan:
PONTIAC, Mich. — A Michigan man has pleaded guilty to sex abuse after being accused of wearing a “World’s Greatest Dad” shirt to meet for sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old-girl.
Thirty-three-year-old Daniel Allen Everett pleaded guilty Thursday in Oakland County Circuit Court to child sexual abuse and using the Internet to attempt child sexual abuse.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 21. Messages seeking comment were left for defense attorney Deborah McKelvy.
Authorities have not confirmed whether Everett has children.
Attempting to have sex with a 14-year-old girl? May not have kids? Well, damn, Everett may just not be the world’s greatest dad after all…
Edwards Admits to Affair
August 8, 2008

John Edwards
Two words: character counts. Even John Edwards would agree. Here is his response to CBS News anchor Katie Couric on the subject of marital fidelity:
Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans – including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it’s fundamental to how you judge people and human character – whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that you love your spouse, and you’ll stay with them. … I think the most important qualities in a president in today’s world are trustworthiness – sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And – and certainly that goes to a part of that.
It appears now that these hypocritical words uttered by the Dapper Douchebag Democrat will haunt him for the rest of his life. John Edwards has admitted to ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that he *did* have an affair with novice filmmaker Reille Hunter. Take that, mainstream media! Now you finally have something to report, dontcha…
John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extra-marital affair with a novice film-maker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today:
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 42-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter’s baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby’s birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.
A former campaign aide, Andrew Young, has said he was the father of the child.
According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.
And… in a futile attempt to look like less of an asshole, Edwards explains:
Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.
Yes, but we’ve since learned that the cancer has returned in an incurable form and, well, wasn’t he just caught leaving her hotel room in L.A. towards the end of July?
The mainstream media now needs to make up for their lack of attention into this by investigating whether or not Edwards is indeed her baby daddy.
UPDATE: Statement Released from Senator John Edwards:
In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99% honest is no longer enough.
I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.
It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up – feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.
I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.
Nothing more to say? We’ll just see about that…
