How To Destroy Your Journalism Career In Three Minutes
November 7, 2008
Adam Smith, aka Steve Zacharanda, had a few too many Tuesday night and managed to admit that he was plagiarizing from the BBC to write his story about the Obama victory…AND that he was resigning from the Birmingham Mail, the Birmingham Post and the Birmingham Sunday Mercury…on video, no less…drunk.
The video, shot by a Dutch amateur journalist from Couscous Global, ended up on YouTube and has become an internet sensation.
Oddly enough, this has all ended rather badly for Mr. Smith.
The Aftermath:
For Adam Smith, the election of Barak Obama really did bring about “change”.

Douchebags Still Showing Up On Airplanes
November 7, 2008
Every once in a while a douchebag shows up on an airplane and doesn’t “get it”. It’s pretty simple how to act on an airline flight. You walk into the plane, smile at the stewardess, sit in your seat, shut off your cellphone, ignore the safety briefing, stay seated unless you need to piss…and get off the flight when it lands.
Unfortunately, there are douchebags like Maria Esther Castillo of Oswego, N.Y. who can’t quite grasp the concept, so they end up duct taped to their seats.
Castillo, 45, struck a flight attendant on the buttocks with the back of her hand during Saturday’s flight, FBI Special Agent Peter Carricato said in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Charlotte.
She also stood and fell onto the head of a blind passenger and later started pulling the person’s hair, the complaint stated.
Ankle cuffs kept slipping off Castillo, so the flight crew and two passengers were forced to use duct tape to keep her in her seat, the complaint states.
She calmed as the pilot diverted the flight to Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, but became disruptive again when authorities boarded the plane to remove her, authorities said.
It would appear that Maria was lucky. A few years ago, she would have been taken care of “old-school”.
Update: Here’s a pic of Maria, allegedly taken when she was duct-taped to her seat.
